It's almost been a year since I moved to Portland! Can you believe it!? I love it more and more every single day, and am so in awe (and supremely thankful for) of the life I live.
I played my first show since moving up here last weekend at the Streetcar Bistro in the Pearl with Jenna Ellefson, and Amanda Breese. Those ladies always blow me away with their talent, and overall amazingness.
I'm a firm believer in surrounding yourself with the people who inspire you, and push you to do
great things. In fact, no matter where you are in life, if you ask me how I got where I am (and how I'm getting where I'm going), I would tell you to do just that: surround yourself with those who constantly inspire, and encourage you.
I like to think of it in terms of planting, and finding just the right soil. If a plant doesn't have just the right soil for its composition it won't bloom to the best of its ability -- it may sound silly, but your people are your soil.
So last weekend I got to play a few new songs, and some old goodies. I hope to start recording again in the fall after all of my travels. I have a pretty big trip to Ireland, and Scotland coming up soon. (Which I can't wait to show you all pictures of! Well, once I take them of course haha.) After that I'm going to start working on getting everything in place to make more amazing music.
As summer approaches I'm reminded again that seasons change, just as all things change. I always have to stop and remind myself to embrace the unknown. Take the time to bloom.
